NEWS 161019 about RaspEX LXDE for Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 2
I have upgraded the whole system and replaced the old kernel 4.1.20 with kernel 4.4.21. RaspEX Build 161019 is a Linux ARM system for Raspberry Pi 3 and Pi 2. There are books written about sed(1), a stream editor which can filter and transform streams of text, because it can do a lot more than many suspect. It actually uses a very simple and compact language which, though limited, is concise. I used sed(1) for ages and ages without exploring more of what it can do. It's most often used only with the s/// substitution, but it also has other capabilities.
Previously, I described how to use one computer's RAM as an SSD (OS drive) for another computer. Here, I describe how to use one computer's RAM as SWAP for another computer. Bear in mind that even a RAM disk over gigabit ethernet isn't going to be as fast as a local SSD, but it's still faster and much more responsive than a local spinning hard drive.
