Installed Nix

I recently installed the Nix package manager on my system:

https://nixos.org/nix/

Nix is an intriguing idea: a purely functional and deterministic package management system. Nix allows you to install, upgrade, and remove packages on your system without ever having to worry about breaking the dependencies of other packages already installed on your system. This is impossible, by design. Likewise, after installing new packages, you are free to roll back those changes...

Using a script to get your IP address

Posted 01-07-2013 at 12:33 PM by sag47

A friend of mine was complaining today how their work place doesn't parse the IP address from ifconfig but asks for manual input from the user. This is the dumbest thing ever. In case you're ever encountered by this here's a horrible one liner to get the job done quick and dirty.

Also, you may need to replace eth2 with your correct interface (such as eth1).
Code:
ifconfig | sed -ne '/^eth2/,/^\s\+Interrupt/p' | awk '$0 ~ /inet addr/ { print $2 }' | cut -d: -f2

Parser Test 3 (A Return Stack & Compiler)

A self extractor for the 'lib' files that we include for this (pretty cute) little calculator are here.

Re: the compiler part. It's not much of a compiler, but it serves as a proof of concept. (It's used internally, the program is not compiled.)

Before we dig in here, I should say...

Bug in Parser Test 2.

Parser Test 2 (Something a bit more ambitious, maybe?)

Posted 01-03-2013 at 02:36 AM by rainbowsally

Parser Test 2 (Something a bit more ambitious, maybe?)

Here's test2.

Features:
  • Lots of custom parser funcs in order to create a parser for algebraic expressions. See 'expr' 'times', and all that good stuff in the source file 'src/test2.cpp' below.

This is the output from a session.
Code:
Input some math expressions and maybe we can identify them.
Type 'quit' to end
3b + 5 * 4e-5 / (2 * 5) + 4
