You can still have google with the top black menu bar

I truly hate websites or GUIs in general going away with nice features or changing stuff for no good reason, and/or without being in a clear opt-in/out manner.

Anyway, adding a parameter to the google query/url still brings the not-so-old UI: noj=1

You'll still need a user script to have "scholar" to be among the search options on that menu, though. Otherwise it's still on "more → even more → scholar, no longer with your original query, loser"....

Exton|OS Light Live CD 64 bit with Openbox 3.5.2 :: build 140524

Posted 05-24-2014 at 03:12 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

I’ve made a new extra version of Exton|OS with only a minimum of packages pre-installed. Among them a terminal emulator (LXTerminal), a Web Browser (Chromium), PCManFM (file manager), NetworkManager and Synaptic (Package Manager). I give you the pleasure of installing all extra packages you need after a hard disk installation of Exton|OS Light. Use Synaptic for that. You can of course also install new packages while running the system live (from CD/USB stick), but nothing will be saved after a reboot....

Rar extraction via pcmanfm context menu apparently requires file-roller on Debian

The title pretty much describes all that's to say about it.

Reading other forum I was left with the impression that xarchiver + unrar would suffice, but apparently it doesn't, at least in Debian Testing, May 2014.

Slackware-14.1-PaX Notes

Posted 05-19-2014 at 10:06 PM by arniekat
Updated 05-30-2014 at 08:04 PM by arniekat (Added freshclam, chromium, KDE System Settings)

Laymans Explanation - PaX is a Linux Kernel patch that protects against Buffer Overflows and Heap Attacks. In other words, the PaX Patch protects against memory exploits.
