NEWS 151001 ABOUT RaspEX
My first version of RaspEX is from 150318 and my second from 150706. I have now upgraded the whole system. RaspEX is a Linux ARM system for Raspberry Pi 2. It is based on Debian Jessie (Debian 8), Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (Ubuntu 15.04) and Linaro (Open Source software for ARM SoCs). In this new version (151001) I’ve installed Wicd Network Manager and added support for Adobe Flash in Chromium (so you can watch YouTube). I have also installed Samba and VNC4Server so you...

rxvt-unicode - urxvt - utempter patch.

Posted 10-01-2015 at 03:46 AM by MadMaverick9 (MadMaverick9's Blog)

This patch removes all utmp/wtmp/lastlog related code from rxvt-unicode and replaces it with two calls to utempter_add_record and utempter_remove_record.

Why am I posting this here? Because neither nor allow attaching patch/diff files to posts/comments. They only allow image files to be attached, which is very surprising esp. with regards to, which is supposed to be a website for programmers/developers.

Thank you very much Jeremy....

Semi-auto-generated, nicely formatted, apropos-like list of your custom bash functions

Posted 10-01-2015 at 01:35 AM by the dsc (linux-related notes)

↑ Change the number "10" to whichever line you want to start grepping the functions

"lsfunctions" would be like "apropos /usr/bin/*", or whatever really works, but restricted to your custom...

How to configure NFS Server and Client Configuration on Ubuntu 15.04

Posted 09-29-2015 at 05:18 AM by sridhar11

NFS was developed at a time when we weren't able to share our drives like we are able to today -- in the Windows environment. It offers the ability to share the hard disk space of a big server with many smaller clients. Again, this is a client/server environment. While this seems like a standard service to offer, it was not always like this. In the past, clients and servers were unable to share their disk space.Thin clients have no hard drives and thus need a "virtual" hard-disk. The NFS...

Pipeing youtube-dl output to a given player (and having it as a mini-script)

youtube-dl -f ${2:-5} $1 -q -o - | mpv -
The first parameter is the youtube url, for a single video, and the second, optional, the quality code, like "best", "worst", or a given number. The default there (5) is the 240p flv.

Just "mpv youtube-URL" was supposed to work, but isn't working right now for me. It says the youtube-dl version...
