A little Linux fun.

Bonjour,

How about this? I thought of killing my Fedora (not in a literal sense), just how much damage can it take until all hangs up, without using any scripts or forks or bombs.

Started Vbox with two machines running Mint and Slitaz, and still it was running all happy and fun.

Didn't succeed this time. I think I will put in more VMs with other distros and see how far it goes...

virtualbox & dual boot

Posted 12-24-2008 at 04:41 AM by lauriej

I've been using Virtualbox successfully for about 6 months, but recently encountered a problem after upgrading to version 2.1 (not the OSE version) and so I'll pass on this info so other newer Linux users like myself don't get caught.
I have a Suse Linux/Windows XP dual boot 64 bit system with Suse as the primary boot & had booted into windows before upgrading Virtualbox in Suse, just to be sure everything was OK before the upgrade.
After ver 2.1 was installed My wife wanted to...

It's in the Air.

Posted 12-23-2008 at 06:42 PM by Hitboxx

Bonjour,

I just tried Adobe's put-the-web-on-your-desktop thing called Air and it's pretty neat. It is similar to those widgets, gadgets,..etc but on a grandeur scale. Though still in the infancy as far as application availability is concerned, nonetheless it is a neat platform and it works.

I downloaded it from the site, installed it on my Fedora, browsed (from Firefox) through the application listings at their site, and saved the ones I wanted to my /home. Then used...

Virtual machines

Posted 12-23-2008 at 02:17 PM by jozik

Well, that was easy: installed Virtualbox (using synaptic) and made a couple of virtual machines: Debian and WindowsXP. It's really simple, just don't forget to make a virtual disk and to mount de CD/DVD-drive or ISO-image with the installation disk(-image). Funny thing is that I get the impression that the virtual machines are faster then the 'normal' ones, at least in powering up. I'm curious to hear if you have the same impression.
I'll use the virtual Debian machine for my LPI training,...
