Vonets mini 300 wifi bridge/repeater - continued

Posted 04-18-2015 at 12:54 PM by WestCoastSunset

After having used this for awhile, I had to shut it down as it was causing interference with my wifi network at home. Browsing would freeze as though the computer was not connected to a network. After turning off the vonets device, we have had no more problems. I really only wanted it for its wifi bridge function. I am going to try using it with a different ssid for its repeat function and just never connect to that. If there is a way to shut down the repeater function, and just use it as a bridge,...

DNS server implementation tip

Posted 04-18-2015 at 07:04 AM by Upendra Pratap Singh

This blog is meant for those who wish to install DNS server on their system.

Whenever you make any changes to the configuration files - named.conf, named.conf.local or named.conf.options and restart the service bind9, do check the entries in the resolv.conf file.

This file is found in the /etc/ directory and this file takes the previous configuration IP addresses despite the bind9 service being restarted.

I faced this problem and currently I am finding...

My current KVM switch is an IOGEAR GCS1724 4-port box-type. Of the five KVM switches I have used since 2003, my current IOGEAR GCS1724 is by far the one I would recommend (depending on machine requirements)....

Run Android-x86 from a USB stick with persistence!

Posted 04-16-2015 at 03:40 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)
Updated 04-16-2015 at 05:53 AM by exton (More info)

Yesterday I discovered that "my" Android-x86 systems can be installed to a USB stick with persistence. I.e. all system changes are saved directly on the stick.

What is it good for?
Well, you dont have to touch your hard drive. Installing Android-x86 this way wont effect your ordinary boot loader. And as I say above: All system changes are persistent!
