Firstly, let me just apologize for not posting sooner. Schoolwork has been grueling- mostly from my mathematics class- and I had no time to post. A tragic event has delayed posting here even further, but I am here! Also, my very good friend has launched a podcast on spreaker.com... it's called J101. You can find it here . I am proud to say that in episode 3, I was able to speak on the podcast, under the alias "Dr Bob". Take a look at it if you can. That aside, I'm gonna relate...

DebEX Barebone (Debian Wheezy/Sid) with LXDE and kernel 3.8.4

The system is a based on Debian Wheezy (upcoming Debian 7). There is also certain elements of Debian Sid (unstable). LXDE is used as Desktop environment. “The Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE) is an extremely fast-performing and energy-saving desktop environment“. I have replaced the original Debian kernel 3.2 with “my special” kernel 3.8.0-15-exton (Kernel.org’s 3.8.4, stable). The system language is English.

Why chroot jails based on host name?
If you don't care about the background info just jump to Setting up sshd chroot jail and SELinux.

So I have started configuring automated deployments through my organization using a continuous integration server called Jenkins. I'll post more on Jenkins regularly so that eventually you can have a series of posts which wrap up into a nice and secure howto for Jenkins. So here's why I want chroot jails based on host names.

HP 2133 Mini-note PC crunching along just fine with Ubuntu

After about a month since I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (overwriting SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10) on my HP 2133 Mini-note PC, I can report that the machine has not crashed once with Ubuntu. Under SUSE, it crashed several times during on a session. If you have one of these machines with SUSE (a vendor installation) and yours crashes repeatedly, I recommend you consider installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
