ssh authorized_keys command= script example

Posted 06-24-2015 at 11:48 PM by catkin

I found little prior art on the 'net regards ssh authorized_keys command= scripts so it may be useful to share the solution we use with our backup scripts.

The remote computer backslash-escapes command words using bash's printf %q. The received command is available to the command= script in envar SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND.

The command= script has three jobs:
  1. Validate the command against a series of custom regexes
  2. Convert the SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND string to individual

My Philosophy of a Gnu/Linux Slackware user.

I am a Gnu/Linux Slackware user. And that provides me with a UNIX-like system which affords me a stable Gnu/Linux that I utilize daily. Of late I have heard so many times that I/we can be bullies within the Slackware forum. From my perspective I find this as false and sometimes just that some members do not interpreted or appreciate our direct involvement with a stable Gnu/Linux distribution by our interactions with a friendly community here at LQ.

Shifting Gears (again)

Posted 06-23-2015 at 10:01 AM by rocket357 (Musings on technology, philosophy, and life in the corporate world)

I was given an "opportunity" to move to a new team at ${DAYJOB} (a required clearance for advancement in my position was denied...such is life in the government sector). So, there we were, sitting in front of a PC about to do some actual work. But we couldn't, because we needed instructions from a particular e-mail. Said e-mail could not be reached online since it was sent using POP, not IMAP.

The computer with the super important instructions did not have any VNC connection to the outer world, so we could not simply log in that way, start Thunderbird and check out the e-mail from a distance.

What do you do? Take the bus to where the...

Use any widget theme with Krita, outside KDE with a tiny cheat

Posted 06-23-2015 at 01:12 AM by the dsc (linux-related notes)

export KDE_FULL_SESSION=true && krita

It may have other collateral effects I haven't figured yet, not only on krita, but perhaps even elsewhere. Possibly DANGEROUS.

Be warned that other widget themes besides plastique and oxygen are known to be often broken outside KDE, that's the reason for such theme-enforcing policy. If your preferred theme doesn't work on Krita, don't complain about that to them, they've manifestly done that in order to avoid trying to make...
