Idea for a script to prevent xscreensaver while watching videos on a browser

The core concept is just:

while true ; do

wmctrl -l | grep -i "youtube\|vimeo" && xscreensaver-command -deactivate

sleep 5m

Perhaps it would be more elegant to have something that somehow works more accordingly to xscreensaver's time rather than this thing that has smaller cycles just to play it safe.

Won't work for embedded videos, though, as "youtube"...

My second build of Android-x86 KitKat with kernel 3.18.8-exton-android-x86

I have compiled yet another Android x86 system (KitKat 4.4.4), which can run live (from CD) or be installed on almost all laptops (and some Desktop computers). For example Acer (Aspire), HP, Samsung, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Thinkpad, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Ausus laptops. The Android system is distributed in the form of an ISO file as the rest of my Linux distributions. I.e. you must (as usual) burn the ISO file to a CD if you want to run the system live on your computer or install it to hard drive....

timer.c:331: fatal error: RUNTIME_CHECK(isc_time_no w((&now)) == 0) failed

Posted 03-09-2015 at 11:34 AM by MensaWater

Posting this because all I found on line were multiple links to a single google post about this error.

On a RHEL5.10 system this morning I did a "dig" and got the error:
timer.c:331: fatal error: RUNTIME_CHECK(isc_time_now((&now)) == 0) failed

Clearly the message is related to time and in the US this past weekend we switched to daylight saving time (in my case we went from EST to EDT). Initially I thought it was because the system I was on didn't...

I've been playing around with setting up my own Certificate Authority for my local LAN (for things like WPA2 Enterprise, Certificate-based VPN tunnels, etc...) and I figured I'd make this "pilot" as cheap as possible. For testing purposes, I'll set it up on a USB jump drive. Encrypted, of course.

But then I got to thinking...a CA is something I'll use very often at first, but then once all of the certificates are in place, I likely won't touch it for another year. That's...

Spring is near!

Posted 03-08-2015 at 12:24 PM by onebuck

Two weeks from today and it's officially spring!

In like lion and out like a lamb. So it seems we are going out as a lamb. Chance of the sixties next week. Starting to thaw here, mucky mess everywhere. On the farm this time of year was a lot of work getting fences mended and husbandry for the animals was a must in the spring. Shots for the horses along with worming. Hopefully the hay stack was high enough for the next 8 weeks. Since first cut wasn't until mid May....
