64-bit utilities (includes mc2-64 bit)

Updated Today at 02:03 AM by rainbowsally (Uninstaller fixed and uploaded)

We'd better tool up. The old mc2 was for 32-bits. There are a few bugs in it but it should work for those needing 32 bit compilation on a 64 bit machine.

[Note: The binary installer had a bum uninstaller prior to 9:03 PST Sunday May 3, 2015. Hopefully the fix is simply to change the tester path to $HOME or download it again with a (fingers crossed) corrected uninstaller. ;-) It's easy to just delete the $HOME/usr folders, but it's even easier to use the uninstaller which only uninstalls...

An Experiment: From C Definitions To Templates

This is a tangent, but a forgivable one, no?

Today's mind-blowing Mad Computer Science features:
  • An experiment morphing a regular old C style set of functions into a set of C++ templates.
  • We rename a literal parameter type to a template parameter T and voila!
  • This will help demystify the horrible noise in the messy STL templates by making a simple transition from main_1 to main_2, in which error messages from the compiler

**Warning

Before attempting to dual-boot Linux on an existing Windows computer it is essential to backup all personal data to an external drive.

There are two main reasons why people may wish to dual-boot Windows and Linux:

1.) They are familiar with Windows and are perhaps interested in replacing it with Linux. They may be reluctant to ditch Windows completely, in case they do not get along with Linux 100% and so decide to keep a foot in both camps....

Posted 04-30-2015 at 03:26 PM by MensaWater

We had an issue with a few servers showing as CRITICAL in Nagios with"(Host Check Timed Out)" for the host check itself even though all services were displaying as OK.

Today I finally realized the issue is that in our hosts.cfg for there is a definition for "generic" that includes:
check_command check-host-alive

In our commands.cfg check-host-alive was defined to run check_ping.

However, these hosts were in our DMZ and...
