Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

NEWS 150831 about DebEX Gnome
I have made a new extra version of DebEX, which I call DebEX Gnome Live DVD. It’s a pure Debian system. It uses Gnome 3.14 and Mate 1.8.2 as Desktop environments. Gnome 3.14 is winning back disillusioned Linux users. I have installed Nvidia’s proprietary graphic driver 352.41 in this new version of DebEX. Furthermore Google Chrome to make it possible to watch Netflix movies. All other installed packages have also been updated to the latest version as of 150831....
Well, not totally "randomly", it seems it always "falls back" to a specific theme whose name I don't know, not to any random theme from the whole pool of themes.
I think that it has been a week or so that the GTK2 apps will randomly/sometimes use one other theme than what I use (qtcurve), even though I've exported the GTK2_RC_FILES or whatever in every possible moment imaginable (even though I'm not sure i saw it happen with export "GTK2=whatever &&...
NEWS 150830 about DebEX KDE
I have made a new version of DebEX KDE Live DVD. It replaces version 150219. It’s a pure Debian 8.1 system. I.e.: There are no Ubuntu or Kubuntu elements involved. DebEX KDE uses KDE 4.14.3 and KDE Plasma Desktop 5:84 as Desktop environment and kernel 4.1.0-3-exton. I have installed Nvidia’s proprietary graphic driver 352.41. Furthermore Google Chrome to make it possible to watch Netflix movies. I’ve added SMPlayer – an alternative to Vlc. (SMPlayer is a free media...
It's not an urgent matter so I won't post on the forums. But if anyone knows it's possible I'm quite interesting in directions on how to do it, specially if it's something more or less trivial, like not requiring to re-program the driver or something.
If the title/subject isn't clear, sometimes, in order to have the tablet area proportional with the screen, one may need to "unmap"/deactivate some of the tablet area. Then perhaps this could be configured as extra keys or...
"Legacy scrolling". Back then clicking on the scroll bar meant to go about a page up or down, not that you magically know the exact content that is at that absolute point. Also "remove overlay scroll indicators", so the scroll bar is always visible and occupies a definite space, instead of sometimes overlapping content and making it harder to click, as the overlay pops up.
