Virtual Network Interfaces problem

Posted 01-31-2007 at 01:10 AM by rashmi_mec

Hi All...
I have some problem regarding virtual network interfaces. The case is I have two machines each with two links with IP 10.1.1.1,20.1.1.1 on one m/c and 10.1.1.2 ,20.1.1.2 on second m/c.I configured theses links by cammand ifconfig eth0:1 10.1.1.1.
Now I have my program such that 10.1.1.1 is receiving packet from 10.1.1.1 and 10.1.1.2 and similarly for 20.1.1.1.Now if I make link 20.1.1.1 down by ifconfig eth0:2 20.1.1.1 down ,it is still receiving packet from 20.1.1.2 but not from 20.1.1.1, which I can see in my program. But the expected result should be that it should not receive any data from any link...
Can anyone tell what is the problem? If I use ethernet cards instead of virtual links, will this problem occur there also??
