GLADE meets FLUID (FLTK designer) Pt 1

Posted 04-14-2015 at 04:49 AM by rainbowsally
Updated 04-14-2015 at 05:02 AM by rainbowsally (clarification)

Today's Features:
  • See how the glade files suggest the names of the gtk functions needed to "write" C/C++ directly from ui text.
  • Using anonymous child objects and parent linkage. (It's easy.)
  • Hypothetical code translation with ui definitions in comments.

I confess, I like the fltk 2.0 concept and I have reworked it into my own FTL interface creator. You'll have a heck of a time getting a copy of 2.0 anymore. And it's substantially messed up. But I like my FTL because...

GTK Resource Compilation Utility

GTK Resource Compilation.

There's a utility called 'glib-compile-resources' that takes an xml file that is basically a list of resources such as glade ui files, and it outputs c code to embed the data in the application. It's messy to use, but it works.

There may be another messy gtk/glib utility to create these xml files that 'glib-compile-resources' can use, but if there is here's another one that may or may not be easier to use.

Posted 08-06-2014 at 10:41 AM by rainbowsally

I apologize for neglecting to set up a new web resource and correcting the links for so long.

It may still be a while before we can get back to some serious fooling around, but at least the links should be good now. ;-)

Thanks again for the blog lq.

Mint 16 Best 64 bit KDE Desktop for G945/i915

Posted 02-28-2014 at 09:11 AM by rainbowsally
Updated 04-19-2014 at 11:33 AM by rainbowsally (abandon ship!)

Update: I'm reverting to a 32-bit system. I may install some 64-bit libs but trying to get everything working that I need in a 64-bit system is not worth the time.

I'll leave this post in case it's of any help to anyone, but it turns out that THE solution to the graphics speed provblem here may have only worked by chance. Meanwhile, my 64 bit system still has all the graphical effects working, but everything else slowed down and several apps ported from non-mint distros no longer...

new mc2 version

Posted 09-27-2013 at 04:32 PM by rainbowsally

mc2 (makefile creator 2) was created and developed right here at linux questions. It is a terminal app with some gui features and generates makefiles like automake does, but much more simply, using your own directory structure to organize builds -- even very large projects -- super-easy.

Also recommended are kdevelop3 to replace that DOG they now use in kde, and kdbg...
