Raspberry Pi web server

I signed up to LQ a few days ago. I'm going to use this blog to document progress with my various projects.

I'm about a third of the way through writing a CMS in Python. The front end works quite well. It has built-in caching support and some SEO friendly features like meta page descriptions and tags. I've started on the back end, and I have a lot of work to do on it.

I'm hosting a web site on a Raspberry Pi, a small computer with an ARM11 processor running at 700MHz. The amount of traffic on my site is increasing steadily, so I'm working on a load balancer so that I can use several Pis. So far, I've set up lubuntu on a second hand PC, I've installed Apache and set up mod proxy balancer.

The PC is an old Dell with a 2.7GHz Pentium 4 and 508MB of RAM. I was going to install Ubuntu, but the live CD was painfully slow, even for a live CD. I tried lubuntu, and it's a pretty good fit.

Next, I need to get my hands on more RPis.
