Come to the realization that all my old computer stuff will not work with the newer media. Spent a little time writing various scripts for personal use. Made a debian text only removable install for the insignia infocast. Desktop hd bit the dust. Was able to back up most everything. Forgot to grab the tuxpaint pics. Replaced the drive and installed Debian instead of Ubuntu. Plastic on an old laptop screen section disintegrated. Such a fun week.

Not an Arch linux user, but I am thinking about becoming one. Noticed that Mythtv seems to have some packages for MythTV in the Arch repo for the ARM cpu. Have two Arm products and maybe a third if I get my birthday wish. As I have already recorded, we put Debian squeeze back on the Nslu2. The Insigina infocast also has an Arm processor. Would it not be interesting to make the Chumby, a MythTV front end!!!!

Found another PDA with a serial connection, but will have to make a special interface cable. We will see how that goes also. Want to use the palm with the arduino as a display. Cheaper than buying a rs232 lcd. Well free is always cheaper. May make a discrete parts rs232tottl adapter.

Made sort of a passive network tap from: http://www.instructables.com/id/Pass...k-tap-revised/

Found that Slackware has a dvd that automatically becomes a pxe server. Can not wait...

Going through the old stuff again. Found the old Nslu2 with the installed original firmware. Found an article about installing Debian 6 on it. You know you have to try it. Success at that. Installed Boa to use as a local server. maybe some home automation with an arduino interfaced to it.

Found my old Palm pdas and seemed to remember that they could be a dumb terminal. Hmmmm. Perfect for the Nslu2. Installed ptelnet on the units. So you know one has to try it with the Nslu2. After...

Looking at my old web server hardware docs to see what upgrades it might take. Lo and behold, a slot 1 pIII cpu could be a replacement for the old slot 1 pII cpu. Grabbed the parts bin and whoopie there was not only a pIII, but faster than what I already had. Did the swap and now the web server is so much peppier. That was so successful, we upgraded another machine with good results.

As for the web server, we restalled it from scratch. Installing the web based apps is generally easy....
