Was on a learning to cook theme for a while. That is waning, though there are still a few recipes I would like to try. Now I really want to get into electronics. Most of what I have done has been monkey see monkey do stuff. Mostly in the area of pc parallel port control. Did build a transistor multi-vibrator. My latest simple project is this: http://www.instructables.com/id/Ultra-simple-flasher/. May make several and attach them to the pc. Adding a switch of course.

Found a command line graphical web browser called Arachne. Used it with dos many years ago. Installed but having a devil of a time to work with my video card/monitor setup.

Also playing with qb64. It will compile my old qbasic code, but does not install properly. Need to do some research.

Found a neat hack where you can get your computer to sing with festival.

Well I took an old p1 and installed ubuntu 5.x server and added the build-essential. Installed the os on compact flash via an ide adapter. Had to use a special boot floppy to get the cdrom to start the installation. Probably will use it as a light controller. A few mocs and triacs should make it an easy job (I hope).

One of the reasons I like to do page scraping is to get the data I need without having to take time to use a web browser such as Firefox and or a newsreader to get the specific data I need. Letting the computer get the data for me and making a summary file of the data I need is therefore letting the computer be my secretary and or research assistant.

Have been doing some page scraping, but i was not able to get the weather from their (Google) site. Then read they have it sort of hidden....
