Had not set up an ltsp server in a long long time. Just to keep my fingers in it, I took an 800 mhz amd single core system to use as the server. I think it had Jaunty on it. Upgraded to lucid. The system already had two nics in it so it made things easier.

sudo apt-get install ltsp-server-standalone.
make sure to set the nic to autostart or a bunch of services will not start.
set the ltsp network nic as static.
Altered the dhcp configuration files for the nic...

Replaced dovecot with courier and my private email server seems to work better than before.

Still have to address some problems with sql-ledger, but I have some notes as to what to do.

Ubuntu is beginning to upset me again. I went to "connect to server" and there were no options. There were before I upgraded. Why was that not included as part of the upgrade. I am tired of fixing mickey mouse stuff on ubuntu. Oh that's right Mark Shuttleworth is a mac user....

Still using my Chumby like a touchpad. It did not come with an external battery. I bought a non-working rc car at Goodwill for a couple of bucks. I can use the parts for other things, but it had an 8 AA cell battery compartment. With a little surgery and a few electronics, I can make a nice compact external battery holder that I can attach to the back of the unit. Original article:

Lucky enough to have over 50 stations where I live. Lot of them are in Spanish or a host of oriental languages. Sometimes I will just turn off the sound and pretend to lip read what is said on movies I have seen enough times. Have more fun capturing snapshots for using in cartoons than saving any video.
Pardon the...

Make it last.

Don't throw away that old router yet (especially if it has dd-wrt or the like). The reason why I say that it allows you to set up an intranet (private network). Why would you need such a thing. Say you want to set up several computers, but did not want the network traffic to hit your internet network and slow it down. For example a gaming network. We are now using an intranet for the home automation network. The real world does not need to see or have access to what we are up to either.
