Downlloaded some pdf files, but wanted to access them from the local server. Did not want to edit several hundred lines into an html file so I create a batch file. Then the job was done in seconds rather than hours. Learned a bit more about sed in the process.

# turn a pdf list into a usable http file for a web server.
ls *.pdf > pdflist
cut -d "." -f1 pdflist > descripts
sed -i -e 's/^/<a href=\"/' pdflist
sed -i 's/$/\"\>/'...

Have not made an entry in a long time. Accidently killed my pogoplug and my beaglebone black. I will probably find a fix eventually for the both of them. Still have my arch PII box, but I need to update it.

Think I have made a zillon ota foil based tv antennas. The foil antennas do not get all the channels, you almst have to have a good metal antenna to complement a foil antenna.

Tried to redo the arch linux for my pogoplug. for some reason the batch file to do the image creation foobarred the boot of the hd on my host system. Thank god I can at least still get at my data. Have a spare drive that I may just do a clean install. then I will move the data over. One of the few times in twenty some odd years linux has ever really screwed up. Using a different machine for the time being. will not run that script on it.

Looking in the closet and can not believe how...

Installed arch linux on an i686. Installed linux many a time, but this is a new experience using arch as an os on a desktop. One thing That was different was to use the secure shell to remotely connect to the install machine. That way I could cut and paste commands as needed and save a lot of typing. There were some issues, that really were not issues. Had to use a search engine to rectify things I did not understand. Allegedly the live cd makes it easy to install. I had to do it the old fashion...

Used preprepared scripts to install arch on a pogoplug. Arch is sort of becoming addictive. Learned about BUILDPKG and that is exciting for the posobilities. One program, I had to dl the source and compile. That made my day. Setup the seb server and some other goodies.

Still have some old pentium II's. An Arch install on one of them would be interesting.
