Pi projects expand.

Posted 10-29-2012 at 08:14 AM by peonuser

Found an image to allow the Raspberry Pi act as a thin client for ltsp. You do not have to put the arm arch on the server. X86 client runs in a virtual machine. Works fine with our U-10.04 ltsp server.

Found an Android image for the Raspberry Pi, but have not tested it.

Wanted to make a Raspberry Pi pc, but ran into legacy hardware problems.

Al Bell's legacy.

Downloaded and ran CosmoPBX in a virtual machine. Was able to get ekiga to connect to it without a problem.

Mythtv box somehow had a capacitor broke partly off. Desoldered the cap and bought a replacement. Will have to install the new capacitor.

Finally got the raspberry pi. Made a power adapter that would use the power supply from the Nslu2 with a cheap one dollar micro usb adapter from Frys. That worked.

Install debian for raspberry pi. Installed a...

Learning again.

Finally was able to order a rpi. Believe it when I see it. One nice thing about the units is using several memory cards each with a specific purpose. Set up pfsense on a 2 g compact flash (with ide interface) and installed it in an old "AT" based p1 box. Need to compare the throughput compared to the plastic router being used now.

Bought a pogoplug for twenty bucks on the recommendation of SourceTrunk. Have not tried to install linux yet. Arch should be an interesting new distro to play with. It has a crappy warranty.

Do not have a machine that can run w8, but I have a client machine that could probably...

Crash.

Posted 08-26-2012 at 03:34 PM by peonuser

Computer fell off the desk from pretty high up. It smashed my PalmIIIxe to bits. Kiss it goodbye. The nslu2 was in the same box, but for the time being it still seems to work (so far). have not looked at the computer yet. It was an old p2 I was using as a tftp server. I would preferred to have it broke rather than the palm. Oh well.
