Clustering

I have installed MPICH2 on three RHEL4 machines .All the machines are on same network.
I run a big c program on the first machine . It took around 3 minutes to run on the standalone machine. After this , I run the same program on the cluster.It took the same three minutes to give the same output . Perhaps my assumption was wrong that : MPICH2 will distribute the calculation part on the three nodes of the cluster..if this is true..then the time taken for the program to run on the cluster should be only one minute..plz clarify
