Started reading my book from the beginning again. Got through the preface.
Started chapter 1. Reading through the GNU-LINUX CONNECTION. There was mention of the GNU Hurd. Went to the web pages mentioned. Skimmed over some of the info.
This from about 3:40 am to about now.
I will leave for work in an hour. Now I will play.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Some times I have trouble sleeping.
GNU-LINUX CONNECTION is the name of the section.
A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO LINUX is the name of the book.Posted 12-31-2008 at 07:26 PM by moonbeam5 -
I see where the confusion could be. This is the second post on my blog. The previous post will help explain a little.

I just ordered two books. The Official Ubuntu Book 3rd Edition and Ubuntu Kung Fu Tips, Tricks, Hints, and Hacks. I read many books in the store cover to cover and these were the first two about Ubuntu (or Linux) that I felt were worth buying. I bought them from Alibris. I would buy them from the store but I’m too poor.
IMO books that are distro specific are more useful than generalist books about Linux. YMMV. I can however see how a book about the CLI could be an exception to that rule. But then I am not a CLI affectionado, I prefer the GUI.

I see you asked for help with fedora core 6 on 4/4/07 in the forum. In your thread you never said how or if you resolved the problem, did you? I know nothing about fedora so don’t ask me I can’t help.
I have been experimenting with live boot Ubuntu since last February. I’m almost ready to install it. Obviously I am proceeding with an abundance of caution. I hate surprises.
As always you should not feel compelled to reply to anything I say. Doubtless you have better things to do than satisfy my curiosity.Posted 01-02-2009 at 10:00 AM by win_to_lin_migrant -
Yes I did Resolve the Fedora Problem. The Main Problem I had was ignorance. This was my first attempt at anything Linux. I still am a long ways from expert.
I have the fourth printing of this book which came out in '06. Still this book could be updated again.
Yes I too prefer to read books in the store. As it is easier on the pocket book. But my days are spent on other things.
Even now I am not sure if my posts are done in a cohesive manor.Posted 01-04-2009 at 09:03 AM by moonbeam5
