My Slackware Experience (I'm not ready to giveup windows yet).

Posted 04-07-2006 at 12:23 AM by MaxxxaM

I have a HP Netserver E60. It currantly has Duel Pentum II 450 mhz CPU's, I'm upgrading to duel pentum III 600 mhz CPU's in a couple weeks. 383 MB of PC 133 memory.

I very little about Linux, I've tried Suse and Mandrake now I'm trying Slackware. I always thought Slackware was the elitist Linux distribution, and because of this I though it would be the hardest to use. I'm Starting with Slackware 10.2, so I have no clue what any of the earlier versions are like. Its not as bad as I thought it would be to install, but getting it to boot is where I'm having my problems. I'm determined to learn this OS. I don't know what I'm going to do with it once I get it booted up. I have nothing to lose and maybe I have something to gain.

Im not trying to be nasty here, but trying to learn something by starting with the hardest part is a sign of brain damage. Would you learn math bt jumping into advanced Calculus before you learned to add?

Try Linspire, or even the Puppy Linux distro. Very easy to start, you can learn the basics, then go fo somethng a bit harder. Work your way up to Slackware in several steps.
