SIM / hardware-unlocked Android Dev Phone 1 has surfaced for $399 click here for details! Yeah that's right open source Linux based awesome. I want one and BAD , I was even momentarily contemplating switching to T-mobile as they upped the rates on my contract and i could get out with no ETF. However it turns out that T-moblie sucks in my area, or if you believe the posts in general. So its perfect, unlocked phone that works on my network ! Only one small issue , THE WIFE ! She's all like blah blah blah its Christmas time we need to buy the kid stuff not YOU ! So of course I went on a tangent about how gunslingers of old did not have to ask they're wifeys before buying the tools of their craft. I also stated that I am a dork by trade and in order to command the respect i deserve in my cubicle , I need to have a heaping hunk of high tech hanging from my hip. She promptly brought to my attention that I had used my Christmas bonus to buy a nice new shotgun so that probably wasn't the best of references. The long and the short of it is I will wait , either for sprint to get on the band wagon or the wifey to let me be ridiculous and let me squander money pointlessly. Optionally if anyone has a G1 and would like to donate it to the cause I will buy you a beer and name whatever consequent programs I write for it after you = )
