So after a fresh install of ubuntu studio I was rocking and rolling. I decided that since I had no luck with packages I would compile myself and it worked great.

First thing you need to do is install all the pre-requisite goodies

Quote:
sudo apt-get install build-essential liblircclient-dev libasound2-dev libdts-dev libdvdnav-dev libxv-dev libxxf86vm-dev transcode libmp3lame-dev subversion qt4-dev-tools libqt4-dev libsamplerate0 libxvidcore4 liba52-0.7.4-dev libfame-dev libcdio-dev msttcorefonts libasound2-doc libmad0-dev libid3tag0-dev libvorbis-dev libflac-dev libcdaudio-dev libcdparanoia0-dev fftw3-dev libfaad-dev libsmpeg-dev libmp4v2-dev libtag1-dev mysql-server libvisual-0.4-dev libexif-dev
Then download the source.

Then just do the typical

Quote:
./configure
make
sudo make install
in each directory

Next I used my trusty phpadmin to create the user mythtv and the database mythconverg.

then I started her up and she ran fine.

Since I have a tendency to administer stuff from work instead of working I also installed mythweb.

Quote:
sudo ln -s /usr/local/src/mythtv/mythplugins/mythweb /var/www/mythweb
then I changed ownership

Quote:
sudo chown -R www-data /usr/local/src/mythtv/mythplugins/mythweb/data
enabled mod rewrite

Quote:
sudo ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/rewrite.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/rewrite.load
copied over apache config

Quote:
sudo cp mythplugins/mythweb/mythweb.conf.apache /etc/apache2/sites-available/mythweb.conf
sudo ln -s /etc/apache2/sites-available/mythweb.conf /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/mythweb.conf
Finally restarted

Quote:
sudo /etc/init.d/apache restart
And there we have it a shiny new mythtv box in my living room !

I still have to buy a universal remote and program all the good stuff into it so ill further post when I make the obligitory trip to radio shack.

Regards
