The LinuxFest 2013
was well covered by great topics on Linux and BSD and we have had a good and interactive audience.

I felt that there was not enough awareness of
FOSS, UNIX, OpenHardware here in Mauritius and the impact they have on our everyday life.
Secondly when I was reading about hourofcode and viewing the video:What Most Schools Don't Teach, that called for the need for students to start to code, there was the idea that we could do more than just the LinuxFest.
Thirdly, while talking to different parties and friends who regularly attend the lugm-meetup's and MSCC which are weekly+monthly meetups, other ideas began to crop up.

There is the need in Mauritius to hold more free events and conferences that should offer places to raise awareness, meet, share ideas, collaborate, as well as educate, create a common platform for development and the ability to Hack.
