It's been a few years...

My most recent undertaking is an idea that's been done plenty of times before, but I want to do my own version of it. Most importantly, I have learned a lot regarding Linux devices. Expect much more to be added or changed on this before all is said and done.

Simply broken down, my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee is equipped with a RAQ sound system. This part is only important if you are a Chrysler vehicle owner from the years 2004-2008. It is a decent...

Partitioning

Posted 04-16-2010 at 06:43 AM by Indymaynard

I discovered that I wasn't as wise on partitions as I thought I was. It's a shame it even became necessary for me to need to figure this out, but I guess that when new technology is taking over the old, you will have a short time of pain during the overlap.

There also was a difficult time of figuring out the answer on Google.

I have an older 1U server (Tyan Thunder K8) that has a 4 drive RAID controller (3ware Escalade). I recently upgraded all of the hard drives because...

Kill a headache - EasyBCD

Posted 12-20-2009 at 05:18 PM by Indymaynard

Having just purchased a Sager NP9850 (18.4" Display, Dual nVidia GeForce 280m, 2.53GHz Quad Core Extreme, RAID0) notebook (read; monster), I ran into some difficulties installing Ubuntu. I had a horrible time figuring out the problem, so I decided that it was to the benefit of all mankind that I explain how to work this. My toils involved Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10.

Normally, I would totally condone destroying the plague on my hard drive, but I have family that needs help with...

Posted 11-01-2009 at 03:35 PM by Indymaynard

This is one of those funny subjects that you just can't help but see the irony in. Linux users want to write applications in Microsoft programming languages. I only say Microsoft programming languages because it is well known that any language standard that would otherwise exist is immediately smeared under the desk when Microsoft gets their fingers into it.

Getting back on track, I wanted to mess around with Mono a little bit because...because...hmmmm...because it was there. I found...

ATI -- There is no greater hate

I think that some recent developments are going to prove to be a sad thing for Linux users. (Quick link to the story: http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/a...irectx-11-gpu/ )

Sadly, with the focus on DirectX, I doubt that ATI/AMD will be focusing on their Linux drivers enough. This leaves users like myself in a bad situation. We will have no proper 3D acceleration.

After installing a new (read as: new to me) ATI Radeon 9550XL into a computer that...
