An Internal Battle Of Operating Systems...

Posted 04-24-2009 at 12:43 AM by himbamcky

I'll be the first to admit, that I an a Gentoo fangirl. Series of recent events though has me in a bind.

When I bought my new laptop back in August of 2008 for college, It had Vista and I totally wiped that shit clean and installed Ubuntu. Although I needed Windows for in class and DOS for labs, I knew that I just could not stand that eerie feeling of using Vista.

(By the way: I failed my DOS classes because I wanted to use Unix commands)

A few months ago, I read about being able to change your Vista key in for Windows 7 when it was released. So I said to my self "Cool! I can actually have a legal copy of a operating system that I might use to play Counter Strike!"

Being as curious as I am I gave M$ a little phone call. One person told me 'No.', another told me 'LOLWUT.', and the last one tickled me pink...

"We will not be releasing Windows 7 for about another four years."

Excuse me? From what I have been reading the set time is Christmas of 2009.

So, with that in mind, I think that I will be staying with Linux for a long time. I change distros and OS' as much as a change my panties in a week. If I need a new change I am going to go back to Gentoo and throw my unused Vista key in the garbage.
