JBoss Web

Posted 12-01-2006 at 09:27 AM by gparker

I've been tasked with install JBOSS web to evaluate it as a possible replacement for IIS as our "presentation layer". JBoss web is distributed as a standalone webserver running on top of the JBoss 4 microkernel. JBOSS web is not pure java, it contains native code, compiled, and optimized for each OS. The install is simply to unzip it, set my JAVA_HOME, and run "run.sh" from the bin directory. Errors may appear in the server.log.

It may be necessary to set my LD_LIBRARY_PATH to $JBOSS_HOME/bin/native in my run.conf file.

When it starts, look at the IPs and ports its using. Also, notice by the INFO line, that it says "AjpAprProtocol".. this means that it is using the ARP (Apache portable runtime) libraries.

Access the Jboss web instance using http://localhost:8080.
