A new (perfect) 3.17.0 kernel for Puppy Linux

Posted 11-07-2014 at 05:07 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

I don't know how useful this info is for the average Puppy Linux user is, but today I have compiled a new perfect (as I think) 3.17.0 kernel for my PuppEX installed (not "frugal") system. I call it 3.17.0-puppex.

The kernel can be used in all newer 32 bit Puppy Linux "fully" installed systems. I.e. not "frugal" systems.

DOWNLOAD (puppy-k317.zip)
md5sum

1. unzip puppy-k317.zip
2. Place vmlinuz in /boot

Run your Slackware 64 bit system with the latest stable kernel – 3.17.1!

Posted 10-15-2014 at 05:13 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

I have compiled a very useful (as I think) 64 bit kernel for Slackware 12.0 – 14.1 and/or all Slackware derivatives. For example Slax, Zenwalk, SlackEX and Exton|Defender. The kernel is compiled exactly the same way as Slackware’s latest kernel huge. “My” kernel 3.17.1-x86_64-exton has even more support for new hardware, etc. Kernel 3.17.1 is the latest stable kernel available from Kernel.org. Released today (141015).

I have compiled yet another Ubuntu/Debian kernel for 64 bit systems. This time kernel 3.16.0-21-exton, equivalent to Kernel.org’s stable kernel 3.16.4, released yesterday (141005). It is not yet possible to compile kernel 3.17 (also released 141005) for Ubuntu systems.
