Fickel mindedness

I switched (again) back to Ubuntu. The ease of installing programs and the large repository of programs to install makes the distro just so damn convenient. The only thing I really, really dislike about it is I can’t log in as root…oh and Xorg (or maybe compiz?) crashes on me more often than I would like (sometimes so bad I have to use skinny elephants). I think once I buy some DVD’s I’ll try out Fedora 9.
But on the plus side I really messed up my windows partition. Somehow when installing Ubuntu it killed window’s mrb and deleted some file or something that tells windows it’s on an nfts formatted drive. Luckily I always have Puppy handy :). I busted Puppy Linux out of his kennel plugged it into the USB drive, booted and fixed windows! (It sounds fast and easy but it took me a few days to figure out).
I’m currently working on getting windows working in a VM.
Why?
Because I own a copy of MATLAB that only runs in windows, I need OneNote for school and my webcam for Skype works better in windows… besides that I don’t really have a use for windows, so if I can get it to work in a VM it would be convenient.
Hopefully the more I play around with Linux the more I will learn and I’ll actually start posting useful things in my blog. But until then, I hope you are entertained :).
