Gaining a legislative majority

Posted 04-30-2009 at 12:12 PM by Dubious Dave

For the foreseeable future the democrat party will maintain and increase their hold on elected seats. This holds true for state and federal legislatures. Why? Simple really. The democrats have realized that winning elections is about increasing the numbers of voting people who hold similar ideals to their own. You have more people out there you get more votes. The republicans are still trying to win by shifting the positions of the people they put up for office. They are following the crowd towards the democrats. Sooner or later they'll only be democrat lite. While democrats are increasing their voting base by influencing public school activities, enshrining liberals in universities and colleges, marginalizing religion, dominating media, demonizing capitalism, and preaching the message of dependence, the republicans are reacting. They are retooling their message. They are changing their messenger. They are blaming their core constituents. Ooo, I'm impressed. What conservatives (since republicans aren't anymore) need to do is address each one of the preceding issues with long term efforts to counter the liberal ideology and start increasing the size of their own voting pool before the democrats make it illegal to be conservative.
