Howto configure nagios on centos

Step by Step guide :-


export http_proxy=http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:xxxx

/usr/sbin/useradd -m nagios
passwd nagios
/usr/sbin/groupadd nagcmd
/usr/sbin/usermod -G nagcmd nagios
/usr/sbin/usermod -G nagcmd apache
mkdir ~/downloads
cd ~/downloads
wget http://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourc...s-3.0.2.tar.gz
wget http://osdn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourc...-1.4.11.tar.gz tar xzf nagios-3.0.2.tar.gz
cd nagios-3.0.2
./configure --with-command-group=nagcmd
make all
make install
make install-init
make install-config
make install-commandmode
cd /usr/local/nagios/etc
ls
cd /root/downloads/nagios-3.0.2
make install-webconf
htpasswd -c /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users xxxwhateverxxx
apachectl -S
service httpd restart
cd ~/downloads
tar xzf nagios-plugins-1.4.11.tar.gz
cd nagios-plugins-1.4.11
./configure --with-nagios-user=nagios --with-nagios-group=nagios
make
make install
chkconfig --add nagios
chkconfig nagios on
/usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -v /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg
service nagios start

SET PROXY 4 YUM UPDATE
MAY FAIL WITH NO GCC - locate bin/gcc
type gcc on the command line instead of ./configure?

yum update
yum install gcc
ftp://ftp.wicks.co.nz/pub/linux/dist....el5.i386.rpm:
ll /usr/local/nagios
mkdir /usr/local/nagios
chown nagios.nagios /usr/local/nagios
grep "^User" /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
User apache
more /etc/inittab
