Getting the AWUS036NH To work in Fedora 13 (32 or 64 bit)

I don't feel like typing a lot, so here it goes...

Download http://wireless.kernel.org/download/...-01-23.tar.bz2 and extract to /usr/src/drivers/

Most likely, you will need to create the drivers directory. After that, cd to compat-wireless-2011-01-23/net/wireless and download this patch http://blog.rootshell.be/wp-content/.../08/chan.patch

Now before you get ahead of me and try to apply that patch, it will not work. I had to manually vi the patch file, and copy and paste the modified contents into the original chan.c file. You can backup the original chan.c if you would like, but I decided not to. Your discrestion...

Once you modify the chan.c file, cd to the root compat wireless directory and run make, and make install. Don't run the driver-select script or anything else because it broke my kernel at first, so I had to pain-stakenly (spelling?) fix it, which took a long ass time. Once it is done installing, reboot, and enjoy your new card with monitor mode and injection working!

UPDATE: The latest and greatest version of compat-wireless will work for this short tutorial, but you still need to apply the patch manually. If I get enough requests, I will create a new patch for this issue. Here is the link for the download section for the 2.6 kernel - http://wireless.kernel.org/download/...-wireless-2.6/
