Posted 03-10-2011 at 04:03 AM by pushpa_dwivedi

Hi,

I have to install RHEL 5.4 version on a machine with 49,133,092 KB RAM. Please let me know what should be the size of swap area ?
Also please tell me how to reduce the size of swap if I have given more swap size than its RAM ?

Thanks & Regards,

Pushpa

If you need to hibernate, you need a swap partition OR swap file that is at least as big assuming that much ram could possibly be used when ready to hibernate. If not, 1 gig should be large enough. It will probably never be used by the system unless you use a virtual machine. also, post questions on the forums not the blogs.
