OK I don't really have a good title yet but I figure I can post works in progress and other tips I've come across or other interesting things.
LibreOffice back at RC1

Haha... well that was exciting to see them create the document foundation and start a new port then immediately create a release candidate 1, then soon after create a RC2 that was some how worse than RC1, then drop the RC completely and go back to beta.
I assume this was because of the 'Go' open office portions they were adding among other things. Ya know... RCs are for bug fixes only, not feature additions.
Honestly, LibreOffice 3.3.0 should have been a direct copy of OpenOffice 3.3.0 with new branding. This would have allowed for the same bug fixes that openoffice was going through as a maintenance issue, all the while LibreOffice 3.3.1 would be worked on with the added features. We would have seen a more stable, more complete, and a better organize LibreOffice.
I'm starting to really doubt the quality of LibreOffice and its ability to replace OpenOffice.

I have LibreOffice on Mac OS X**, and it works beautifully. Smoothest/prettiest/fastest implementation of OOo I have ever used. I absolutely love it. Doesn't have too many dependencies either. I don't know -- I really like it.
**I can't install Linux on my computer because the DVD drive is broke and I have no USB stick to install it with. Linux isn't supported very well on it, either... It's a royal PITA just to get it working in a usable state.Posted 12-21-2010 at 09:48 PM by lupusarcanus
