Snow, Snow & more snow!
Hi,
I woke up this mourning to find over 3" snow fall today. Too much too early, just playing a round of golf here last week and it was 60° with slight wind. Now its 30° expecting another 1" or more. Glad I got most of my outside work done earlier this week. Since my move from the farm into town it seems that my to-do list is bigger than anything while on the farm. I had a routine on the farm to get all the chores done so there were not many minor to-do that accumulated.
Farm & animals require a lot of work and one must have a plan day to day or things can happen that compound issues. In town the house is the center issue and does require routine maintenance but little things happen that require immediate attention. My new home in town is a local historic home and I cannot just change something that will change the house character. I do hire professionals when I know major work is required. I may know how but my old body is very willing to attempt but I do know my physical limits so why not start with someone who can get it done period.
Trying to decide whether or not to get the snow thrower out. God put the snow there so why not just wait for God to remove it. Wife’s tender suggestions will not allow me to sit here and watch golf or football while the snows on the drive & sidewalks. I forgot to prep the thrower for winter work. Wintered last year in a warmer climate so the darn thing was never used. It was prepped for storage so all I would need is to add gas and check the oil. Love those electric starts. This thing is a beast, wish I had one on the farm this big. Lot easier to clear driveway and lane with a unit this big. My home’s driveway is just 150 feet. The farm had a lane 1/8 mile long with wide lane all the way to the barn. Easier to turn long racks or trailers around with that much pathway. My F350 dually had a wide turn radius but I had a need for that big truck instead of a toy truck. Loved driving that truck, you sit high and the world looks better from that height when driving. I recently sold the F350, just could not justify having it in town. I want to get a 2” hitch on the Town&Country van that I now drive. I have a small trailer that I use to move rubbish & Cub to and from the repair shop. I do not push mow except to trim. Health justified purchase of the newer Cub-Cadet to allow me to mow this small lot. Heck, on the farm the lawn was 1 acre and took about an hour to mow. Without trim work which would add another hour. I went through 4 trimmers in 14 years on the farm. Man is only as good as the tools used to get things done!

In my part of the world, the fall has so far been eerily warm. We had temperatures in the 70 Fahrenheits week before last and I was able to go for a bike ride wearing shorts and a tee shirt. In November.
When I was growing up about 40 miles north of here some (mumble) many years ago, we would have already have had at least one hard freeze and several frosts and already broken out the winter coats.
Commonly, when I was young, we would have an "Indian summer" about Thanksgiving, but, as you can't have an "Indian summer" unless you've had at least one hard freeze, there's no "Indian summer" in prospect, though no doubt if it's warm this week the whippersnappers will think they've had an "Indian summer" because what do they know?Posted 11-22-2015 at 10:10 PM by frankbell

We've run the air conditioner for four days now. In the middle of what used to be winter in these parts.
I went for a bicycle ride in gym shorts and a tee shirt on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
