Brand-new installation, Asus 9rp laptop: SUSE 11.1. Problem: screen dims, as last step of boot-up. It virtually cannot be seen. New OS looks startlingly good, cannot be enjoyed until fixed.
This must be a KPowersave laptop setting. I fixed it once with PowerDevil...and once i accidentally booted on DC power and the screen stayed bright. When i can face it, i'll have to fix this on DC power.
Meanwhile i've lost my mind, because using cognition for highest Consciousness...and so when i cannot call up PowerDevil by Alt-F2, because that is the circumstance...neither can i quite remember how to ...this is embarrassing, after all these years with Linux...start the application. Konqueror just laughs at me.
Grateful, a lot...

Discovery solved problem. It was not a good idea to install too many laptop utility applications. The screen brightness bar was reversed. When set for the brightest, it was totally dark. That was easily fixed.
