While using KDE 3.5.9 on Slack 12.1, I installed a couple of programs that I always use; very common stuff.
I don't know if that was the cause, but at some point, when I plugged in my flashdrive, I did not see it popping up on my desktop.
I looked for it on the file manager and when clicking on Storage Media, I got this message:
groups xri -> users disk audio cdrom slocate plugdev
pstree -> both udev and hald are running.
After some googling, I found this little post:
http://www.kde-forum.org/artikel/136...iamanager.html
So, I tried this:
cd /usr/lib
ln -s libdbus-1.so.3.4.0 libdbus-1.so.2
This completely solved the problem. It remains to find out what is the importance of that library and why the incompatibility took place.
