Fedora 7 Released

Fedora 7 was released today, marking a new step in the Distribution. I will be upgrading to it sometime in June from Fedora Core 4, to Fedora 7. Hopefully it will fix one or two small GUI quarks, give me upgrades to my programs, and hopefully give me some new ones (Like Frozen Bubble), and also give me a needed Driver for a printer. I just hope it is not a Disappointment. :)

My only really concern is that they changed the Icons and default themes, and I would prefer to use the Bluecurve...

Why RPM Repositorys are the Future of Linux

Most of the Programs I have installed that did not come with my Installation (I run Fedora Core 4, going to Upgrade to 7 when it is released :D) came from the Fedora Extras Repository. There I installed with out any problems. I installed Quake III Arena fine from a RPM, I bet it was because I had already installed all the dependencies because I installed Nexuiz, from the Fedora Extras repository using Yumex. Now I am trying to get Quake II. I am still dependencies Hell. So this is why I say RPM...

Getting Fedora to play mp3's in XMMS

When I starting using Linux I was confused by the fact that I could not play sounds in the mp3 format. I could play Wavs and Ogg Vorbis Files but not mp3. I found the answer to this question in a Book about Fedora Core 2. Red Hat and Fedora do not support the mp3 format because of patent issues. But there is a Simple way to add mp3 support back to one of the best multimedia players there is, XMMS. Simply download the RPM from this website http://www.gurulabs.com/goodies/downloads.php, and install...
