			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Thanks to LQ for giving a free blog to all subscribers! With this additional encouragement I can use this space to talk about my Linux-related ideas, experience and comments and hopefully get community feedback.<br />

I worked as a linux admin on and off even though it's not my primary specialization. I have five computers at home, all of which has at least one linux partition. Out of those, my closet server may be of special interest because it lives in a closet and I attached it a dryer hose to exhaust the hot air out of the closet :)<br />
<br />
I run my own 802.11g wireless access point on that server using the Ralink RT61 PCI card. This is thanks to the <a href="http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">rt2x00</a> and <a href="http://hostap.epitest.fi/hostapd/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">hostapd</a> projects.<br />

I like <a href="http://www.perl.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Perl</a> and my profession requires me to work with <a href="http://www.latex-project.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Latex</a>, so I do things with them that I may post here. I already have some of those <a href="http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~cgunay/projects/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">small scripts</a> posted on my home page.<br />

I have <i>obsessive-compressive disorder</i> (OCD) that makes me compress videos I record from my cable TV using tools like <a href="http://www.videohelp.com/tools/CapDVHS" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">CapDVHS</a>, <a href="http://www.mplayerhq.hu/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Mencoder</a>, <a href="http://dvbcut.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">dvbcut</a>, <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/project-x" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Project-X</a>, <a href="http://www.videolan.org/developers/x264.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">x264</a>, <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">MeGUI</a> and <a href="http://avisynth.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">AviSynth</a>.</div>
