Eee Box B202

Posted 10-05-2008 at 06:36 AM by Caysho

I've got an Eee Box B202 now, using it for my main desktop with Ubuntu 8.04.1.
It runs well, though sometimes a tad slow - Firefox does occasionally get sluggish.
Ubuntu installed directly from an external DVD drive via USB without hassle, with a monitor connected via DVI.

There are two display problems:
Bug 233787
Bug 268529

I have the box mounted behind the monitor with the supplied VESA mount, and it's nice and tidy.

Dual boot with Windows 2000 and Kubuntu 6.06 on Intel D815EPEA2 motherboard

I get a 160 GB hard drive, and figured "this should be easy".

First attempt.
Windows installs ok, I had it create an 70 GB NTFS partition (slow to format).
When it asked me about partitioning, it sees 137 GB which it lists at the top of the screen, and also when showing the partitions created.
This is strange, but I don't think much of it - I figure if it can see up to and past 70 GB, then it doesn't matter.
Installed SP4 and other updates....

AverTV DVB-T 777 and the remote

I started to look at what is needed to get the remote working.

This indicates patching is possible, but there's a note about support being in more recent kernels.
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/AVerMedia_AVerTV_DVB-T_777_%28A16AR%29#Remote_control

The board is referenced as SAA7134_BOARD_AVERMEDIA_777 in the saa7134 source; SAA7134_BOARD_AVERMEDIA_A16AR is also mentioned, and seems to be the chipset reference - I've seen it in the win32 inf, so the 777...

KnoppMyth R5F1

Posted 06-18-2007 at 07:21 AM by Caysho

I did a fresh install of KnoppMyth, and I'd forgotten how to do the sound setup for an external amplifier.
Putting it here for my records.

run alsamixer (probably as root)
Find "IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" and set it to zero.

Then go into the General sound setup.
I have:
Audio output device - /dev/adsp
Passthrough output device - ALSA:lec958:{AES0 0x02}
Enable AC3 to SPDIF passthrough - ticked
Enable DTS to SPDIF...
