Exporting Outlook calendar as .ical/ics

Hello

This falls into two steps: firstly exporting an Outlook calendar as .ical files and secondly turning those .ical files into a .ics file.

The technique was used with Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP (as part of a migration to Xfce's calendar, Orage). It probably works with other versions and OSes too.

Thanks and acknowledgements to BlueDevilFan who posted the original VBA macro at Experts Exchange where it is no longer visible (but may be...

Script to filter an Orage export .ics file for gnokii to write to Nokia series 40

Posted 05-12-2011 at 07:21 AM by catkin
Updated 06-26-2011 at 10:51 AM by catkin (Update, version 0.1 to 0.2)

Hello

This script is a workaround for gnokii not being able to set recurrence when loading calendar events to Nokia Series 40 phones. It is designed to work with data exported from Xfce's Orage calendar. It is at an early test stage, please report any problems via comments to this blog entry.

Xapian omega: simple URLs for users (Apache)

Posted 04-11-2011 at 12:59 PM by catkin

Xapian's Omega component is primarily used as tool for building interactive text searching solutions but can be used directly.

When using it directly, a typical URL is http://<host_ID>/cgi-bin/omega. That results in omega running with its default CGI parameters. The default CGI parameters can be over-ridden by specifying them on the URL, for example http://<host_ID>/cgi-bin/omega?DB=<index_ID>&FMT=<template_ID>.

There are two problems...

rsync server boot/control script

Posted 12-25-2010 at 01:14 AM by catkin

Hello

I couldn't find one to suit anywhere so wrote this.

It is not really needed during shutdown because all it does is send SIGTERM to all the rsync server processes and the Linux shutdown process does that anyway. rsync server processes are well behaved and do terminate quickly in response to SIGTERM so there's no need to check that the processes have terminated and escalate to SIGKILL (which the Linux shutdown process does anyway).

It is hardly...
