Laymans Explanation - PaX is a Linux Kernel patch that protects against Buffer Overflows and Heap Attacks. In other words, the PaX Patch protects against memory exploits. PaX also allows you to have separate sections in memory that are writable, but not executable and vice-versa. This is to protect against malicious code that is written to memory, then executed.

KeePass allows you to keep all your passwords in an encrypted container. It is basically a Password Safe available for various operating systems.

You need to compile and install the following applications from SlackBuilds.org:

libgdiplus-2.10.9
mono-3.2.3
KeePass-2.15

Slackware-14.1-Hacks-DNSCrypt Proxy

DNSCrypt-Proxy encrypts DNS traffic between your computer and OpenDNS's Name Servers. You will be using OpenDNS's Name Servers instead of your ISP's Domain Name Servers.

In the following case, 192.168.0.1 is the Local Address of the Router/Gateway. Your address may be different. To find your Gateway Address, use the ifconfig command. The address you want is the "inet" entry. Here is a sample:

# ifconfig

Slackware-14.1-Hacks-Firefox 24.X and Java

You need to compile and install the following application from SlackBuilds.org:

jdk-7u55

Note - I could not download any files from the Oracle website without having java already installed and configured for Firefox. What I did is install and configure an old version, jdk-7u21, then I downloaded and compiled the current version, which jdk-7u55. After that, I upgraded the package using the new version.

You will need to download jdk-7u55-linux-i586.tar.gz...

Compile and install Dropbox-1.2.49 from SlackBuilds.org
The following tutorial is from that version of the Software. After installing:

Go to the KDE Menu > Internet > Dropbox (Network Storage)

Select “I don't have a Dropbox Account”
Click “Next”
