These are the settings I use on Google Chrome, however you may go more stricter or looser with your security settings depending on your needs. I tend to disable any passwords saved, suggestions for searches, etc. Also, you can remove a lot of junk by using a HOSTS file (see the Hosts File How-To) which will disable banners, ads, click-trackers, etc.

Claws-Mail with GnuPG Encryption

This tutorial will setup Claws-Mail with HTML Mail Viewing, Spam Filtering and GnuPG Encryption. If you use Yahoo Mail or some other service, you will need to get the settings for your email from your provider. The information here came from the Claws-Mail Help and from SlackBuilds.org.

Compile and install the following applications in the following order from SlackBuilds.org

Slackware-13.37-Hacks-EncFS/Cryptkeeper

EncFS is a Command-Line application that creates/manages encrypted folders. Cryptkeeper is a GUI that leaves an icon in your system tray so you can create/mount/unmount encrypted folders using EncFS.

You need to compile and install in the following order from SlackBuilds:

1. orbit2-2.14.19
2. gconf-2.32.2
3. rlog-1.4
4. encfs-1.7.4
5. cryptkeeper-0.9.5

To create the encrypted folder, using the Command Line with a username "user1",...

Mozilla-Firefox 5 Hardening

The current version of Firefox for Slackware 13.37 is mozilla-firefox-5.0 from the patches directory. Always use the latest version to get the latest security updates. Also, having a HOSTS file will block banners, ads, 3rd party cookies, hijackers and webbugs. The tutorial for the HOSTS file is listed separately.
