Why and how to use `pthread_join()`? - PThreads

Posted 05-23-2012 at 01:00 AM by Anisha Kaul
Updated 05-23-2012 at 05:16 AM by Anisha Kaul

Join:
Join is a functionality of Pthread library which allows the originating thread to wait for the completion of all its spawned thread's tasks.

Without join the originating thread would exit as soon as it completes its chores, completely ignoring the states of its spawned threads. Due to this, even if any of the spawned threads is in middle of its chore, it'll simply get aborted.

Problem:
Code:
#include <pthread.h>
#include <iostream>

Those college days were very painful for me. Now what I
do is to visualize those moments with those same people
around but with the situation in my favour. I try to
convience those people by telling them what...

this pointer - C++

Posted 03-13-2012 at 11:10 AM by Anisha Kaul

Quote:
The this pointer is a hidden pointer inside every class's non-static function which points to the class's particular object through which the concerned function is called.
Example:
Code:
class A
{
    private:
        int rollNumber;

    public:
	A (int rollNum)
	{
	    rollNumber = rollNum;
	}

	void setRollNumber (int rollNum)
	{
	    rollNumber = rollNum;
	}
};
