Wanted to write up a quick HOWTO on how to encrypt an LVM disk on RHEL6. Linux Unified Key Setup or LUKS is one way to encrypt data at a block level, for a laptop or hard disk. If the laptop is lost or if the system is compromised, then as long as LUKS is used, then the data should be secure.

If, like me, you have a lot of data and a suitable conventional hard drive (HDD), then I recommend that you just buy the smallest, good-quality SSD you can find.

30GB or 60GB is more than enough to accommodate a Linux distro.

Kernel Patch for Wacom Tablet Crashes System

If you have a computer that freezes when you touch your Wacom tablet when you touch it, you will need to install a kernel patch. This should work on any version of linux.
Requirements:
1. Computer running any version of linux
2. A Wacom tablet that crashes linux when used
3. Working internet to get source code of linux and patch
4. Willingness to spend 1 day to get it to work
5. Knowledge of the command line
6. Root access
7. Development tools...

NVIDIA 304.* driver on 4.* series kernel (MSI K9N6PGM2 motherboard, NVIDIA GT610 adapter)

Couple of days ago, I've run into a problem with 340.* NVIDIA driver not being able to load on this system -- some issue with IRQ sharing (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?p=5494905). The previous 304.* series driver(s) worked okay for years on the very same hardware, with 3.* series kernel.

As nobody offered any advice, I've had a notion of trying to install the 304.* driver (304.131, actually). However, while it was building okay, it couldn't load the kernel...
