Posted Today at 05:59 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

New features in version 141220 of SlackEX
SlackEX build 141220 comes as a ZIP-file for direct installation to an USB stick. I have replaced kernel 3.16.1-x86_64-exton with kernel 3.18.1-x86_64-exton with support for “everything”.

KDE is downgraded to version 4.10.5 from version 4.11.1. All other component software is also upgraded to the latest Slackware version by now. I may mention in particular GParted 0.17.0 (latest, not in Slackware’s repositories), VirtualBox 4.3.20 (latest,...

Additionally could version 4.8.6 of Gimp not open jpg files. To deal with the problem, I had to install version 4.8.10 (latest stable version) of Gimp from source.

As I still had to fix various software problems I took the opportunity to replace...

A new version of PuppEX (Puppy Linux) is ready!

Posted 12-12-2013 at 03:28 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

PuppEX 14.1 5.6 32bit is a remaster of Puppy Linux Slacko 5.6, released on August 12, 2013. Kernel 3.10.5 is used. PuppEX uses the LXDE Desktop interface. Unlike the original Puppy Slacko 5.6, which uses JVM, Fvwm95 and IceWM as Desktop interface. PCManFM and LXTerminal are more useful ROX-Filer respectively RXV, I think. The ISO file is on the whole 317 MB, which is due to me including LXDE and compiling tools (devx_slacko_5.6.0.sfs). Slacko 5.6 original is of only 165 MB. PuppEX is despite this...
