Is I.E. 8 the end for explorer?

I've heard through the grapevine that IE8 is the last version of the IE browser. Is microsoft throwing in the towel?

They've got to be coming up with a replacement. Some are claiming that Microsoft will go with WebKit, which, thanks to the popularity of Apple's Safari browser and also Google's Chrome, is rapidly becoming a standard for all non-IE and non-Firefox implementations.

Others say that that the whole WebKit story is merely a feint and that Microsoft will...

Windows 7

Yes, I realize this is a Linux site, but I just have to talk about Windows 7 here for a minute. Anyone else tried it? I’m sure a lot of you have. I’ve been playing around with the release client on my old spare machine, and even though it’s running on some old technology (Pentium 4 3.02 GHz, 1 GB ram – basically the minimum Microsoft recommends) I have to admit I’m pretty impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

As much as I generally am not a fan of Microsoft’s OS, dealing with it...
