New beta version of Pyplate CMS

Posted 05-17-2014 at 02:08 PM by Pyplate

I've made a lot of improvements to Pyplate. New posts can now be saved to a drafts folder before they are published, and they can also be previewed while in the draft area.

I've added a page to the UI where you can export and import the database to XML files. This makes it easier to display the database in a human readable form. You can edit the XML files and re-import them to make changes to the database.

Pyplate now uses a comment template and a sharing template...

Pyplate CMS now works with Nginx

Posted 04-04-2014 at 12:56 PM by Pyplate

Pyplate.com has been on line for almost a week now, and I've had a good response. Several people have used the beta version of Pyplate to build simple web sites. One or two installation issues have come up, so I've updated the installation script.

I've also written a new installation script for anyone who wants to use Pyplate with Nginx. See www.pyplate.com/install-pyplate for more information. I've only published this today, so I'm still looking for beta testers.

Pyplate - a mini Wordpress written in Python now available for beta testing

Posted 03-30-2014 at 07:44 AM by Pyplate
Tags cms, python

I finally released a beta version of my Python CMS. You can check it out at www.pyplate.com. It's powered by an SQLite database, and it supports some useful features like page caching, SEO friendly URLs, a sitemap and RSS feed. The UI is simple, and easy to use.

I've tested Pyplate on a Raspberry Pi and a PC with Apache. I'll be doing testing with Nginx shortly.

I've set up a Pyplate forum at http://www.pyplate.com/forum/index.php where you can ask questions.

My SQLite powered CMS is running on Raspberry Web Server

I've spent the last month and a half re-writing my CMS to include an SQLite database, and I've made a lot of progress with the backend. I've done a lot of testing and it seems pretty stable. The new version is now running on Raspberry Web Server.

I've updated the theme as well, so press shift F5 if you're still seeing the old theme.

I've also been setting up a new web site dedicated to the CMS. The server's up and running, and I've sketched out the structure of...

My Python CMS now supports SQLite

I've taken a break from working on my Raspberry Pi site because I've been spending time developing the Python CMS that I wrote to power the site. Meta data about each post is now stored in an SQLite database. The content is still stored in files separate from the database.

I've also extended the backend to include a UI a little bit like Wordpress. It's now possible to upload themes and switch to them in the admin area. The admin area now has pages for managing the cache, adding...
