Context is everything.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
The Charge Of The Light Brigade

I copied a quote from one guys signature not too long ago: "A nation is a group of persons united by the common error of their ancestry and a common dislike of their neighbors." -Karl W. Deutsch
But that wont say much for the planet ether at least for some time. . . . . . . ☮✌
"Ours is not to reason why. Ours is but to do and die"
—Alfred Lord Tennyson
Had that last one in the same text file but now doesn't make much sense to me.
Why wouldn't we reason if given one or the opportunity to take it?Posted 10-27-2013 at 12:48 AM by jamison20000e -

"You value personal freedom too much. Each individual is but a kog in the human machinery. Individuals have very little value on their own."
This is a collectivist and very sinister and dangerous way of thinking that has no respect for human rights.
How can any sovereign human think like this?
America was founded on individual rights. There are no collective or group rights in the constitution or bill of rights of the United States. They are all individual rights.
There is no group anyway! You can not know a group. You can not have a relationship with a group. You can not touch a group. You can only know and touch and have relationships with individuals.
Just consider the idea of a forest. What is a forest anyway? Humans see a large number of trees in a given area and call it a forest, but in the natural world, there is no forest, there are only trees. The concept of a forest, like a group, is merely an abstraction of the human mind.
The collectivist believes that the individual can be sacrificed for the good of the group.
The individualist believes that all life is sacred.
The individual is more important than the group!!!Posted 10-27-2013 at 12:12 AM by tommcd -
Broadcom Wireless
Thanks for the advice!
I've a friend whose laptop's Broadcom adapter is not on the list. Do you suppose there's any chance that drivers for the left-out adapters will be developed?
I also have a problematic Broadcom adapter, and mine is in green on the list. I tried what you suggested before I realized that, apparently due to my Broadcom adapter not being recognized, I can't access the internet with that system. It sounds, from what you're saying, as if some people can access the internet even without a recognized adapter. Is that right? How confusing!Posted 09-28-2013 at 07:21 PM by Kirsten
