This was written shortly after the 1 Febuary 2011 press release; but got left, unfinished, in "drafts".
Although I don't remember what else I was going to say, I am posting it now.
Needless to say, it deserves some updating about the last 9 months developments.
Well that's maybe not the full story, & it may not be as bad for Linux as it appears. I found this press release*: "Nokia outlines new strategy, introduces new leadership, operational structure".
Consider the implications of these excerpts:
This is an official press release, subject to Stock exchange rules. It is probably as honest a statement as you ever get from a corporation.
MeeGo is not being completely replaced.
